The Disaster Resilience and Disability Inclusion Project (DRDI), funded by the Moody Foundation, works with Centers for Independent Living (CILs) in Houston, Beaumont, Galveston, and Corpus Christi.
Our goal is to make sure people with disabilities are better prepared for disasters and receive the support they need. Through this project, we will:
- Host focus groups to understand challenges people with disabilities faced living through disasters
- Offer opportunities to learn how to prepare for emergencies at home.
- Build stronger connections between emergency management organizations and CILs to ensure people living with disabilities are supported properly during disasters
