Americans With Disabilities Act: 35th Anniversary Celebration
SAILS, in partnership with our key sponsor the Gordon Hartman Family Foundation and significant sponsors VIA Metropolitan Transit Authority, Health Texas, Premier Prosthetics, Frost bank, Deaf Interpreter Services, Documation, 101 Mobility, Project Mend, Pet Shotz, National Seating & Mobility and Prosumers will host the 35th Annual Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) celebration a– FREE event! The location is the wonderful & fully inclusive Morgan’s Event Center. SAILS is featuring FLAME the band from New York!
There is an award ceremony with a presentation of plaques for Public Servant of the Year and to various organizations. SAILS will host 35 vendors with information and community resources. *A light lunch is provided for FREE!
Why:
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is the most important piece of legislation to help persons with disabilities. It literally changed the future for people who have disabilities when signed into law in 1990. Our community needs to celebrate and keep the ADA alive!
Who:
Developed in 1981, San Antonio Independent Living Services (SAILS) is a federal and state designated center for independent living aimed at serving persons with all types of disabilities in Bexar and twenty-seven surrounding counties. SAILS also has a satellite office in Waco, Texas that serves 10 counties. Our core services include independent living skills, advocacy, information and referrals, peer mentoring and transition. SAILS also provides rehabilitative technology and durable medical equipment to persons with significant disabilities.
