July 26, 2025, will mark the 35th Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), which has empowered millions of Americans with disabilities to live more independently, enjoy the freedom of choice and pursue meaningful, productive lives. Signed into law by George H.W. Bush, this momentous piece of legislation gives individuals with disabilities equal opportunity for access to businesses, employment, transportation, government programs and services, and telecommunications.

On Thursday, July 24, 2025, Disability Connections (DC) will commemorate the signing of the ADA with a celebration at the McNease Convention Center. DC’s Annual ADA Celebration is the only one of its kind in the Concho Valley area. Admission is free if reserved in advance and $10 at the door. Tickets can be reserved by calling the Center at (325) 227-6624 or by visiting www.lifeinctx.org.

Attendees will enjoy an afternoon of planned activities that include lunch, live entertainment, disability awareness education, prize giveaways, and the opportunity to access valuable community resources through local businesses and disability service providers. Everyone is invited, so join us in making the ADA’s 35th Anniversary a memorable one!

Established in 2010 by LIFE Inc., DC is a non-profit Center for Independent Living that serves San Angelo and the surrounding area. We are not a place where people with disabilities live, but rather, strong advocates for community-based living. The Center’s program is designed and administered by people with disabilities themselves. We provide a myriad of services to assist individuals with disabilities to achieve and maintain their independence in the community. DC’s services include, but are not limited to, Independent Living Skills Training, Nursing Home to Community Transition, Peer Support, Advocacy, Information & Referral, Assistive Technology, and Social & Recreational activities.
